Best Buys: March and April

Yeah, I was a bit slack with my 'new buy' posts for March and April so I've decided to compact it into a post talking about the best products I bought from those months. There's still quite a few things so I will put a page breaker in! As I've said in a few of my posts, recently I've really been in to nail polish, so this post is going to be nail polish heavy!

The first thing however is not nail polish, it's a strapless dress I got from Primark. (I made a haul video which included it on my YouTube channel, click here to watch it!) It's a beautiful navy colour with white hearts printed all over it. The shape also makes you look a lot slimmer (which is GREAT in my case, being chunky and all!). It's elasticated at the bust and then flows into a few layers. It's pretty short so I will definitely need to wear tights but I think it's a great piece ready for summer! I can't wait to wear it!

The next product I bought is part of a series I've loved since it started! True Blood. It's the 12 book in the Sookie Stackhouse (Southern Vampire Mysteries) series. I love reading these books because they really hook me! The books show that the story is more mystery based than the programme, I started watching the programme before reading the books and I didn't really realise that it was a mystery until I read the book. I definitely recommend these books if you're into mysteries, vampires and relationships! Not everyone agrees though, I lent it to one of my friends at school and she defined it as 'vampire porn'. Yes there are some saucy descriptions in there but I don't think it's on the Fifty Shades scale...
The rest of my best buys are nail polish and nail related however. I went a little polish addicted and I cannot stop buying them! I'm always finding new polishes to try out and trying to convince my mom that I haven't got a colour similar...

The first few polishes are by Barry M. I'm going to talk about 'Mint Green' first. I bought this because I was too stingy to buy Essie's 'Mint Candy Apple'! Barry M's mint green is quite a bit darker however but is still a lovely spring colour! The application is great as well, it only takes 2 coats to become opaque and it lasts fairly well (around 3 days with no chips). It seems quite thin though and I do notice some of the ridges of my nail showing through. This is probably the only problem I have with this polish though!
I also bought their 'Turquoise'. I think it's more of a sky blue than a turquoise though. It's still a great colour though and I've used it loads already! Again the application is great and is opaque in about 2 coats. I didn't notice the same ridges on my nail as the mint colour which is a good sign. It's a really bright blue and again I think it's great for summer! I did a nails of the week with this polish too! (Click here to read it!)
I needed a white colour as I don't have ANY and it works as a great base coat for designs and to make colour stand out and become more vibrant. This colour ('Matt White')works great and the application is so smooth. Lots of people complain about whites being streaky and hard to apply but this colour was easy to apply and doesn't have any problems with sheerness. It was a good consistency and the colour comes up great on the nails. The only problem is that chips are easily noticeable because of the natural colour of nails, but that isn't the polishes fault! I also used this in a nails of the week and it was the base colour for my Cards Suit You NOTW!

The next polishes I'm going to talk about are a really good deal and the quality is great too! It's the brand Techic and their polishes are only 99p each! I buy them from Bodycare and I really love the shades they have! The first one I bought is the shade 'South Pacific'. It's a lovely bluey green turquoise. I haven't had a chance to try this out yet so I can't really say much about it. I love the colour though and I think it's a great colour for all year round!

The next colour I bought from them is also a blue and it's the shade 'Deep Sea'. It's a really deep navy purple blue and I think it will go great with lots of other colours and outfits. Again I haven't tried this out yet so I'm not sure whether the application I good and how long it lasts. But judging by the colour it's a great colour for both summer and winter and I can't wait to wear it!

I also bought two red colours from Techic and the first one is the colour 'Mars'. I have done a NOTW post using this colour and that is linked here. It's a really confusing colour to describe because I can't tell if it's pink, orange or red! It's super vibrant and a really fun colour for spring and summer. The application is amazing and is opaque in only 1 coat! There is a problem however and that is that it chips very easily. I'd only had this polish on for one day before it chipped and the chips just got bigger every day! For the 99p price tag however I don't think you can complain too much!

The other colour I bought was 'Perfect Pink'. It's a hot pink that just look super feminine! I haven't tried it out yet but if the pigmentation is as good as Mars then I don't think I'll be disappointed! I'll just have to put a top coat on to stop it chipping! I love these polishes so I don't think I will stop buying them, there are so many other beautiful shades that I haven't seen other brands do!

I bought some MUA nail polish also this month because I'd never tried them before. I wish I hadn't bothered... I bought 'Koala Bear' which in the bottle looks absolutely amazing and looks like a dupe for an Essie polish I wanted to buy. It's a lovely grey colour that should look amazing. But when I applied it there was almost no colour; so I thought that another coat would sort that out but no, it started making a dent in the colour but it basically looked like my nail was just slightly discoloured. I didn't bother carrying on to see how many coats it took as I was too disappointed!

The other colour I bought from MUA wasn't as ad though. It was the shade 'Natural Days' which is a gorgeous natural pink colour. This applied better than Koala Bear and the colour was much more pigmented. I HATED the brush however, the bristles flew off in all directions and it was far too chunky to get a neat edge without going on to the skin. I hope other MUA polishes are like this and not like Koala Bear!

Another new brand I wanted to try was Sinful Colors because I'd heard lots of good things about their colours and how a lot of them were dupes for higher end brands! So I went out and bought some and after uhming and aring I decided to get 3 of their colours! The first one I definitely wanted to get was 'Envy'. This is a beautiful mid green colour that I think is absolutely amazing for so many different outfits! The application was super smooth and the pigmentation was great! I'm so happy with this polish and I think it was probably become one of my favourites!

The next shade I bought from Sinful Colors was 'Verbena' which is a really pretty pastely lilac purple. I think this colour will work great for spring and summer and I think it looks very sophisticated even though it's bright. Judging by the swatch I did on my one finger it's smooth and the application is easy with no problems! I'm really pleased with these polishes considering they're only £1.99 at Boots! I'm really looking forward to using this and making different designs with it too!

The last Sinful Colors polish that I bought was their glitter polish 'Kissy'. I think this colour is soo cool and this is a colour that I actually didn't find on their website. This colour reminds me of 'Watermelon Rind' from China Glaze which was one of the polishes on my wishlist! I don't think this colour is an exact dupe however but I still think it's pretty close and I probably won't buy the China Glaze until I've ran out of Kissy. Once again, the application is amazing and smooth and I think the colour of this would be perfect in 2 or 3 coats! I'm so pleased with all of these colours and I will definitely be buying more from this brand in the future.

I also got my first Essie polishes this month but I'm not going to talk about those because I made an entire post on them. It's linked right here so go and check that out if you want! The colours I bought though were 'Ballet Slippers', 'A Crewed Interest' (I did a NOTW here) and 'Glamour Purse'.

The last polish I bought (hooray!!) was P.I.A's no.05, it doesn't have a shade name! My aunty kindly bought me this and it's a beautiful shimmery lilac with silver glitter. This polish lasts for a really long time and look really sophisticated. I think it's a really cute colour and I definitely recommend it!

The last things I bought were some nail art brushes and dotting tools. But I'm going to do a separate post on those reviewing them so keep your eyes open for that!

I'm so sorry this post has been so long! As you can see I bought A LOT of nail polish. I'm really enjoying painting my nails and trying out different designs! Thanks for reading and please visit my YouTube page to see other beauty related videos! Darkeowl's YouTube Channel
